Straight-pipe planning tool

Pipeline Tape Consumption Calculator

Estimate tape length and whole rolls for one cold-applied wrap layer. Enter the dimensions and overlap specified for your project; review the result before ordering.

Use the outside diameter of the wrapped surface, not the nominal pipe size. For multiple diameters, joints, or layers, calculate each segment separately.

This is a geometric estimate, not a bill of materials or guaranteed order quantity. Confirm actual roll length, wrap method, surface profile, starts and ends, joint details, and site waste with your project team.

How the estimate works

Effective axial coverage per turn is tape width multiplied by (1 - overlap fraction). For a straight cylindrical pipe, the estimated tape length is wrap length multiplied by the helical distance travelled per unit of axial progress. The result is rounded up to whole rolls after the selected allowance.

Here, 50% overlap means half of each new tape width covers the previous turn. Some project specifications define overlap differently; use their definition. This calculator covers a single continuous straight-pipe layer only. It does not estimate primer, elbows, joints, end closures, carton volume, or tape weight.
